It’s a great pleasure to welcome you to Albury for the Australian Regional Development Conference.
As one of Australia’s leading regional cities, we welcome this discussion and debate to Albury. AlburyCity is a very proud supporter of this event. The challenges facing regional areas cross borders and territories. But the proper planning, discussion and debate of new ideas they are challenges that can be overcome.
The Australian Regional Development Conference will focus on issues surrounding economy, planning, environment and community development. The aim of the conference is to advance economic and social outcomes for regional Australia. The conference provides the opportunity to discuss the challenges, opportunities and future of regional Australia.
For visitors to Albury I extend a warm welcome. While in our city I hope you have the opportunity to enjoy the many activities and attractions we have to offer. For first time visitors I’d encourage you to start in our CBD. The many restaurants and cafes are a fantastic showcase of the food and wine that has made the region famous.
While in our CBD you can also take our heritage walking tour which gives you a great insight into the rich history of our city.
The LibraryMuseum just next door is regional New South Wales’ most visited cultural attraction and I’d encourage you to stop in and wander through the exhibits.
If you prefer the outdoors we’re perfectly located on the iconic Murray River.
Meanwhile, Lake Hume and our nearby walking and cycling trails are amongst the most spectacular locations in regional New South Wales.
Of course, if you’d like to know more about Albury and the region more generally I’d encourage you to drop into our Visitor Information Centre opposite the Albury train station.
On behalf of AlburyCity I welcome you to our city and hope that Australian Regional Development Conference further strengthens economic, community and sustainable development.
