4th Australian Regional Development Conference 2017

3rd Safe Cities Conference 2017

Dates and location for the 2017 Safe Cities Conference will be announced soon. Safe Cities is a concept that encompasses security, safety and quality of life for those who live, work, visit, study or play in any physical environment. With focus on the development of resilient cities, designing out crime within urban environments, social investment in our communities and public safety, the conference includes expert speakers within research, design thinking, ethics and cyber security.

The Safe Cities Conference will provide a platform of discussion that began in 2015 for professionals involved with providing safe and secure urban communities. The Conference will include workshops, presentations and forums to share experiences and the challenges of designing, planning and maintaining safe places to live.

The Safe Cities Conference Program will be designed to challenge, demonstrate and encourage discussion on all areas of safety and security within communities. Covering topics that include the four thematic categories from the Safe Cities Index 2015 (Digital Security, Health Security, Infrastructure Safety and Personal Safety), this unique Conference aims to attract a range of professionals that work within the safety and security sector. Collaboration within government, business and the community is crucial to the safety and security within cities.

3rd Developing Northern Australia Conference 2017

The Developing Northern Australia Conference Above the Line – unleashing the north’s potentialcontinues the dialogue started in 2015 following the release of the Australian Government’s White Paper on Developing Northern Australia.

The program is intended to provide all participants with an opportunity for input into the Government’s Top Actions Summary. Asking and answering such questions as: What progress has been made? What barriers exist and how should they be overcome? What resources are needed? Where are the investment opportunities?

The International Urban Design Conference 

Now in its 9th year, the International Urban Design Conference will be held at Hyatt Canberra from the 7 – 8 November with optional study tours on the 9 November.

This years’ theme, “Smart Cities for 21st Century Australia – How urban design innovation can change our cities” will focus on an understanding of what makes a city ‘smart’ from a urban design perspective and how the built environment develops during the city planning process.

The Conference program will also include presentations on the operation of an urban design practice, industry standards and the Urban Design Profession. The Conference will provide all participants with an opportunity to contribute, learn and network with peers.
